The first foam earplug, introduced more than 35 years ago, used to be invented by a young chemist by the name of Ross Gardner, Jr. His early work on energy absorbing resins (E-A-R) commercially introduced in 1972, used to be the genesis of what later became referred to as the E-A-R Classic Foam Earplug. The contributions by Ross Gardner, Jr. are still found in 3M Peltor Earplugs today and continue to provide an exceptional combination of comfort and attenuation in hearing protection. Today, the line has been expanded to include quite a lot of sizes and shapes of foam, pre-formed and noise-activated earplugs.

Preventing Hearing Loss
